[Recording log begins]
Professor Colson: “Hello, this is Professor Colson of the PCT Foundation facility 402. I am recording this log on August 13, 1028. Interviewing with Kaleb Schwendler, the brother of Kevyn 2-jk.Lb. We are going to be speaking about an event that has occurred to the cause of the annihilation of Earth 2-jk.Lb. This interview shall not be spoken about outside the interviewing room, with or without permission of that of a class Leager personnel member. Beginning interview in three… two…”
Kaleb readjusts in his chair, looking ahead toward Professor Colson. Before placing his hands onto the table in front of him, giving a deep breath before nodding slightly towards her.
Kaleb: “Where should I begin?”
Professor Colson: “Start from the beginning please.”
Kaleb nods, licking his lips and feeling slightly safer and calmer than before.
Kaleb: “I think the best place to start was when I we were in our 12th birthday. Me and Kevyn were living back in our childhood home, our father and mother brought us to a park. It was a present for the both of us, and it was a splendid day. I had a lot of fun hanging out with him at the time. We would go on these tall swings that looked ginormous to us, but once you grow up. You realize that they just look huge because of your size.
Kaleb chuckles to himself, scratching his head before continuing.
Kaleb: “However, there was this one time while we were at the park. Me and Kevyn were playing in one of those sand boxes. Kevyn who was sitting beside me while we were pretending to dig in the sand, asked if I could get him some water. I did, but when I got back. I saw another young child in the box with him, and he was picking on Kevyn and shoving him into the sand. He was trying to steal our toys from us, and I was about to jump in and help Kevyn…”
Kaleb goes quiet when he wiped his nose, struggling to bring the words out. Colson was typing on her laptop the words Kaleb was saying, but she stopped and looked over to Kevyn.
Colson: “And?”
Kaleb apologizes to her for stopping.
Kaleb: “Kevyn pushed the child with extreme force and nearly killed the child. Put the kid in the hospital for nearly breaking the kid's neck. Basically he, pushed the kid so hard. That he hit against playground set and was bleeding from his nose and mouth. The mother was so freaked out that she begged for us to leave before she called the cops. I just stood there watching the scene unfold, and before I knew it. I was back at home with my mom upset with Kevyn. Grounding him from ever leaving his room or watching TV.
Luckily for me, I wasn’t in trouble at all. She let me play any games I chose and wouldn’t argue. However, at the time, me and Kevyn grew such a bond that I decided to ask mom to ground me as well. The only reason I gave her, was because brothers stick together to the end. I went into my brother’s room, and I went up to him, told him. “Brother’s stick together, that’s why we will be grounded together. Not just one of us.”
Colson: “What did he say back to you?”
Kaleb: “He said thank you, shortly before giving me a hug. The only thing though is that he remembered it much clearer than I did. Says that he regrets letting me ground myself just for him. Said I deserved better than what he did. My younger self would’ve disagreed strongly.”
Colson: “Can you tell me about the incident in high school with the popular students that picked on Kevyn?”
Kaleb nods, before beginning to story.
Kaleb: “Well, what I remember at the time, is that it all started from when Kevyn found this girl at one of the party’s he went to. A beautiful girl who was just standing by herself, but as he was talking to her. This guy walked up to him and asked him, ‘Hey, is this guy bothering you?’ The way he said it just made me want to sock him in the face so hard. But Kevyn tried to apologize, but the guy wasn’t having it.
“The next day at the school, apparently Kevyn found out the guy was more than just some party fan. He was this popular student who got himself addicted to drugs and alcohol. Associated himself with a lot of crimes besides anything related to murderous crimes. He considered that kind of stuff ‘too far.’ But essentially, he began making in front of Kevyn, beating him up on several occasions. He would come home with a black eye from him getting socked in the eye, his father would try and speak to that guy’s father. To only come home crying because they didn’t care at all what happened.
“Until one day, while Kevyn was getting bullied by them like any other day. Kevyn spoke to the leader, that being the one started the whole bullying thing in the first place. Told him these exact words, ‘Make sure to turn left while the light is red tonight, you’ll win a race and earn yourself a thousand-dollar check.’ At first, he didn’t listen. Thinking that Kevyn was full of shit, until he was out on the road that night with his girlfriend. A red light was seen, and he was pulled up beside this race car.
“He looked over to the people inside the race car, completely forgetting what Kevyn said earlier that day. The race car challenged him to a race, but the popular student wanted to get a head start. Accepting their challenge and about to make a hard left while the light was still red. Right as he does so, this large truck comes out from the right side of him and completely kills him and his girlfriend. The car totaled, but most importantly. Kevyn wasn’t referring to a thousand dollar check from winning, he meant a thousand-dollar bill, including tens of thousands of dollars for his funeral.
“The next day, the rest of the popular kids went up to Kevyn after hearing the news. Pulled Kevyn up against a locker and tried to figure out what Kevyn did that night. I was in my classroom getting started with studying when I heard that police were called from the principles microphone coming throughout the school. Said that all students are to still be inside and continue with schoolwork and to not ask questions about what just happened. I looked out the room from the classroom and there I saw Kevyn getting put into a police car.
“Only ten minutes passed before my parents called for me. Making me skip the rest of the day, just because they wouldn’t be able to pick me up later that day due to Kevyn’s arrest. While I was stuck at home working on homework and my assignments, I was trying to understand what the hell happened. I asked my parents, but they essentially ignored my presence the entire time. Especially Kevyn himself, pretending that I don’t exist within the family. It was a load of bullshit, but I just kind of went along with it.”
Colson: “How about the occurrence of March 31 of last year? Tell me the full story about what the hell happened?”
Kaleb slightly hesitant, eventually nods.
Kaleb: “Well, the first place that I can remember to start at is what I was hearing from the news. I was at home, making dinner for myself when the news came on about Kevyn escaping from prison. At first, I knew Kevyn wasn’t anything special. The police would be capable of handling him no problem, and nobody would get injured.”
Colson kept writing but looked up to Kaleb.
Colson: “I’m assuming you were proven wrong?”
Kaleb: “Obviously… And I didn’t know how it came out to be like that, all I know. Is that it was a surprise to me as well. Okay?”
Colson: “Just try your best to describe what happened, and we’ll take care of the rest.”
Kaleb: “Well, like I said. He was standing in the middle of the street; police were surrounding him with many kinds of weapons pointing at him. I thought that they were going to kill him. I quickly reacted by rushing out the house and started heading toward the prison. That’s when it started.”
Colson: “What did?”
Kaleb: “At first, I didn’t know what was going on. I was in traffic when I started to notice that the car and everyone around me begun floating upwards. I decided to get out of the car and started to force myself toward Kevyn. When I got there, Kevyn was screaming at the police with rage. When I called his name, his attention directed towards me and let go of me. That’s when I decided to try and make him stop what he’s doing.
“But he kept refusing, saying that everyone is out to get him. I tried telling him to relax, but his eyes only showed frustration. I reached my arm out to touch him, but it only caused him to push me into a long sharp object.”
Kaleb stood up from his seat, moving his shirt out of the way to show where the object pierced him.
Kaleb: “I thought I was going to die because of the pain. But by the time I looked down to see the injury, I didn’t see any blood. That’s the moment I discovered my ability of matter regeneration. A form of regeneration where it heals me to the subatomic level. Making me capable of healing from any injury, illness, to even getting my limbs chopped off.”
Colson: “What happened after you discovered your ability?”
Kaleb: “I was able to recover from the object in my chest, began getting closer to Kevyn to make him stop. By the time I was 3 feet from him, I started hearing this ringing noise in my head. I tried to fight it, but it only got worse. When my hand was…” Kaleb reaches his hand out with his fingers making a pinch gesture. “This large explosion erupted like a nuke. Wiped everyone beside me and Kevyn.”
Colson: “Okay…”
Colson reaches his arm out to papers and documents on the table, flipping through each one before stopping. Kaleb leans forward while readjusting himself in his seat.
Kaleb: “The last thing that occurred was Kevyn rounding up the last people left on the planet. He created this huge palace where the prison was. I didn’t really have any words to describe the events afterwards. I was mostly stuck in confusion and slight rage. He killed our parents… The ones who were there to comfort us, keep us both safe.”
Kaleb started forming tears in his eyes, showing the first real emotion since he got there.
Kaleb: “I left to form the NAP, hoping to turn and use them to punish Kevyn for what he did.
Colson: “That backfired though, didn’t it?”
Kaleb becomes speechless, looking down at the table in front of him. His eyes wander around the room, avoiding any sign of eye contact with Colson.
Colson: “Is that all? Or should we keep going?”
Kaleb is still speechless, looking away in shame. Colson reaches out to the recorder, placing her finger above the stop button.
Colson: “This is Professor Colson, ending the interview and escorting prisoner to prison cell.”
